An Overview of Novel Coach Camp

At Novel, we believe that investing in curriculum-aligned leadership development is a primary lever for driving student outcomes with any curriculum; and far too often, we see schools skip this leader layer of professional development.

Novel Coach Camp is a series of 4 full and half-day webinar sessions designed for the Novel ELA leader. These 4 “camp sessions” build on each other along a developmental arc of the school year (see session outline here), and they are designed to empower leaders to:

  • navigate change management surrounding a Novel curriculum adoption,

  • design strong implementation systems to support a strong start to the school year with Novel ELA;

  • norm with and practice using Novel tools and observation rubrics;

  • run a strong curriculum-aligned unit unpacking, coaching, or intellectual preparation meeting;

  • practice strong adaptive leadership moves, grounded in equity and research;

  • navigate Novel observation rubrics, “See It" videos, coaching plans, and other resources with ease.
