Novel HS ELA Curriculum

Novel’s HS ELA curriculum incorporates reading and writing instruction into a 60-minute ELA block for grades 9-12, representing the core Literature and Writing course for English I, II, III, and IV.

At its core, our curriculum is designed as a continuation of our Novel MS curriculum with equity and college-readiness in mind, vertically aligned to ensure that students can experience success at both the Advanced Placement and college course levels. Our scope and sequence is Common Core aligned and grounded in the Science of Reading, designed to carefully build knowledge, skill, and rigor across the grade levels. Uniquely, our curriculum offers opportunities for teacher choice of course pathway and of core texts for units, and it also offers units designed for student choice based on text interest.
