Professional Development

At Novel, we pride ourselves on innovative PD with one goal: developing capacity in leaders and teachers to drive outcomes with the Novel curriculum.

Novel ELA Professional Development

Novel’s experiential professional development sessions feature a See-Name-Do format, ensuring that participants get ample application and practice time to put their learning into action. All sessions, whether designed to be teacher-facing or leader-facing, are designed along a developmental arc of the year and support making fast gains with the Novel ELA curriculum.

Teacher-Facing Professional Development:

Our teacher-facing PD gives you everything you need to launch your Novel adoption strong and continue the learning throughout the school year. We run a series of four “Teacher Modules” in a Train the Trainer setting throughout the school year. Typically, we deliver these Teacher Modules via webinar to school leaders, who then internalize them, tailor them for their school context, and then “turnkey” them to teachers when they get professional learning time. Our teacher sessions are designed along a developmental arc of the year; see an outline of Teacher Modules here.

Leader-Facing Professional Development:

We run a series of four half-day leader-facing “Coach Camp” sessions throughout the school year. These webinars that are tailored exclusively towards the Novel ELA leader, developing the skills and strategies needed to effectively set the vision, design systems, and drive outcomes for your Novel program. Our leader sessions are designed along a developmental arc of the year; see an outline of Coach Camp modules here.

While Coach Camp is an excellent start, the best leader development we offer is through our Novel Intensive Coaching service, which involves weekly (or bi-weekly) leadership coaching, site visits, and responding to data on the ground at your schools to optimize the impact of the Novel curriculum.

Make a commitment to your curriculum.
